Taxonomical studies on Phytopathogenic fungi
Prof.Nakashima and his group’s students are studying the taxonomy of plant pathogenic fungi. Studies are carried out using samples collected from the fields or the herbarium, and those fungal cultures. Those studies are carried out as international collaborative projects. Our publications are indicated at “publications.”

Development of early detection system for fungal pathogen and chemical resistant strains
We develop the early detection system for fungal pathogen and chemical resistant strains based on taxonomical knowledge, such as PCR-RFLP, LAMP, and phylogeny.

Plant disease diagnoses
We diagnose various kinds of plant diseases sent by researchers of government and tree doctors, and we return the results of identification of the causal fungi. This function is just like a university hospital for plant diseases.

SATREPS: Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development (2021 – 2023)
We had joined the SATREPS programme named “Development and Adoption of Ecofriendly High Performance Disease Control Technology for Banana and Cacao through Agrobiodiversity Management System.”

Theme for Students

Diversity and taxonomical study of Phytopathogenic Fungi: Mycosphaerellaceae, Botryosphaerellaceae, Phytopathogenic Polyporales, Rubber tree pathogens, Seed-borne fungi. Fungal Diversity of Pseudo-fungi of the Water Environment. Diagnoses of Plant diseases.

International Students
Six international students are studying in our lab.
We have no funds for international students or PosDoc. You should prepare your own scholarship or funds.
